I grew up in a farming community about 45 miles east of Calgary, Alberta and lived there for about 22 years. At about 4 years old I started shooting on the farm. Always had an interest in that. Started reloading when I was 16. Then I went to Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado and after two years of gunsmithing training graduated in 1967. Since then I have been actively gunsmithing in Canada. I worked in Calgary at Uptown Sporting Goods and then Barotto Sports for 10 years gunsmithing and on my own for a few years.

In the early 70's I got quite involved in Benchrest Shooting and with Al Mirdoch and Terry McCracken, and many I names I do not remember  (12 of us in total) started the Namaka Benchrest Club east of Calgary. It started out with nothing but 12 concrete benches on pipe legs at the end of a field. We each donated the cost of a bench. The range held registered shoots and some records were set. We held the first registered night shoot and shot from about 10 pm until 3 or 4 in the morning. That was a lot of fun and quite a few mice climbing the target frames got splattered before the matches ... For 2 years I was Match and Records chairman for Canada... I had to measure a pile of targets officially and sent some to the US for further measurement...

I moved to Victoria in 1979 and worked at Robinson's Sporting goods for 10 years and then at home as Sorensen Gunsmithing and more recently - Sorensen Precision Machining.

I have specialized in the last few years... mostly working on making accurate rifles. I have some excellent tooling for truing the 700 actions and do a lot of them now. I have customers all across Canada but the recent stupid U.S. regulations have now stopped all of my south of the border business.

Currently my wife and I live in Brentwood Bay, B.C. which is just outside of Victoria, B.C. on Vancouver Island. We have kids and grand kids to keep us busy if we run out of things to do.

For hobbies I like to golf, hunt, target shoot, fish and ride my motorcycle.
